Safe Routes to School
The 4-H Urban Outreach and Nutrition Departments at CCE-Tompkins have partnered to implement the educational and evaluation components of the new Town of Ithaca Safe Routes to School program. Educational programs and special community-wide events will be offered to Northeast Elementary and Dewitt Middle Schools in Ithaca, and also to Northeast residents and apartment complexes in the area.
Following the Town of Ithaca's constuction of a new pathway along Warren Road from Hanshaw Road to Uptown Road, this program promotes safe walking and biking, and develops relationships with schools, families, and apartment complexes in Northeast Ithaca. Surveys are being administered to families before and after the project at each school.
If you would like to learn more about this project, please contact Suzie Schlough at scs45@cornell.edu , Heather Ward at hab27@cornell.edu, or Stacy Nembhard at ssn6@cornell.edu.
