Programs are generally FREE with donations welcomed and/or requested to help cover the cost of special programming.  Please make checks payable to Cornell Cooperative Extension, Dryden RYS Donation in note section. 

Programs For Ages 9- 14.  Enrollment 'first come, first serve' basis.  

 

PRIMITIVE PURSUITS - SPACE IS LIMITED! Thursdays January 12- April 5th. Learn ancestral survival skills such as friction fires, shelter building, native crafts, tracking &nature awareness.

WINTER HIKING - Mondays January 16th - February 27th. Please note that on January 16th, MLK Day; participants should meet at the Hammond Hill parking area near Camp Earth Connections. Program will meet from 10a.m. - 4p.m. on this day. Please note that this program will not meet on February 6th. This program will focus on fun and safety in our cold season. As we snowshoe to beautiful locations in our region we will learn about first aid, fire making, gear and emergency prepared-ness. Participants must come dressed for winter weather (winter boots, snow pants, etc.) or they will be sent home.

SCIENCE EXPLORERS - Tuesdays January 17th - February 14th. We will travel to the Ithaca Sciencenter as well as the Museum of the Earth. Additionally we will create our own experiments as we defy gravity and have fun exploring science with experiments we can try in the classroom.

CULINARY KIDS - Wednesdays January 11th - February 1st.  Come join us as we create healthy snacks, meals and even some deserts. Students should come with a willingness to try new things as well as a willingness to help clean up.

DOGGIE DO - Wednesdays February 8 - March 7th.  Mans' best friend is the focus of this program. Participants can look forward to a visit to the SPCA, a visit from Pearl the Labra-doodle, a day of dog training and more. No dogs required.

BIRD BRAINS - Mondays March 5th - April 2nd. Come join us as we travel to local birding hotspots to enjoy the beginning of the migration. Participants can expect a visit to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology as well as learn about the secret language of birds.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY   - Tuesdays March 6th - April 3rd. Come learn the fundamentals of digital photography. Students should bring their own camera if they have one. Cameras will be provided to those who do not have one. Students can look forward to taking some great, creative pictures as we learn not only how to make full use of our cameras, but how to frame and look at the world in new ways. Students can look forward to using editing software.

ROCKETRY - Wednesdays March 14th - April 4th. Did you ever wonder how a rocket works? Come join us and build a rocket and then launch it on our last day. What could be cooler!
