Environment Program

Committee Charge: The environment team envisions a world where people care for and feel connected to the Earth and each other.  The Program Committee works with staff to articulate the mission of the team and ensure this new program area addresses priorities of Tompkins County residents. Current programs include:

  • compost education that supports county waste reduction goals
  • transportation education that is focused on seniors, people with disabilities and low income residents
  • expanding consumer demand for and availability of green buildings options
  • increasing use of grass and wood as renewable, local fuel sources
  • education about natural gas exploration

Meeting Dates:
The Environmental Issues Program Committee usually meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month.  Meetings begin at 5:00 pm and are held at the Cooperative Extension Education Center.  Contact Sharon Anderson, Environment Program Leader, to confirm the date and time if you are interested in attending.
