Family & Community Development
Committee Charge: The F&CD program committee guides the direction of educational programs to build a supportive community for all children and families. Program committee members bring diverse perspectives and work together to shape the community education efforts to make a significant difference in the lives of children, families and the community. F&CD program committee members meet monthly with the F&CD team and are representatives on the Board and Standing Committees to give input on Association polices and activities. Committee members provide input on community issues and resources, learn about research and best-practices to guide development of new efforts, assist with F&CD/CCE-Tompkins outreach to community members, and are informed of and give feedback on current programming plans. These two FY2008-11 major program themes are the focus for the committee:
- Families in Their Communities through parenting education (Parenting Skills, Parenting Styles, Parents Apart, Parent Partner Program, etc), Groton’s Families!, family relationship education, professional development for community organizations
- Leadership, Volunteer and Community Development: through such projects the Whole Community Project, Coalition for Families and other collaborative efforts, Family Development Credential, the Natural Leaders Initiative, and CCE-Tompkins’ support of diversity education through the contract with Multicultural Resource Center.
