Our Commitment to Civil Rights

The policies of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County (CCE-TC) ensure full compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which states that no person shall be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination on the grounds of race, color, or national origin. CCE-TC’s policies also prohibit discrimination based on, but not limited to, religion, political beliefs, ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital or family status, veteran status, or disability in its programs and activities. Furthermore, CCE-TC’s programming is intrinsic to the organization’s commitment to eliminating the structural barriers that lead to poverty, racism, and other forms of discrimination in Tompkins County and beyond.

Filing a Complaint

Any person(s) who believes they have been subjected to unlawful discrimination in programs, activities, or services of CCE-TC may file a complaint. Discrimination may be based on, but not limited to: race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital or family status, veteran status, disability, income, proficiency in English, religion, or political beliefs. The complaint may be filed by the affected individual(s) or their representative.

Reasonable Accommodations

“The term "reasonable accommodation" means actions taken which permit an employee, prospective employee or member with a disability to perform in a reasonable manner the activities involved in the job or occupation sought or held and include, but are not limited to, provision of an accessible worksite, acquisition or modification of equipment, support services for persons with impaired hearing or vision, job restructuring and modified work schedules; provided, however, that such actions do not impose an undue hardship on the business, program or enterprise of the entity from which action is requested.”- New York State Division for Human Rights

Participants, applicants or employees may file a request for reasonable accommodation by completing the Reasonable Accommodation Form (Participant) or Reasonable Accommodation Form (Employee/Applicant)
