Farm Trail Open House
Ever wonder what goes on at the farms you drive by? Our annual "Farm Trail Open House" gives you a chance to stop in, meet the farmer, and find out more about local agriculture and its important role in our community!
Since 2007, CCE-Tompkins has organized this annual event on a weekend in late summer or early fall when there's lots to see at local farms! Many farms offer tours or product samples, and farm products often are available for purchase during the event hours. Admission to participating farms is granted to those wearing an "I Love Local Farms" button ($2/person or $5/4 buttons) available in advance at CCE-Tompkins, and at the farms on the day(s) of the tour. Buttons can be used for admission to all the farms. NOTE: the 2010 event will be free; no button is required!
A wide selection of agricultural producers have opened their gates to the public, including farms that specialize in: organic vegetables, apples, u-pick crops, pastured poultry, dairy, horses, alpacas, beekeeping, plant nurseries, farms that grow specifically for CSA, and more! So gather up your friends and family and hit the next Farm Trail Open House! Visit with local farmers, enjoy the scenery, taste the harvest and support local organic and sustainable farms. Bring a cooler and buy farm fresh products along the way.
