4-H Fly Tying Workshop

The Leon Chandler Chapter of Trout Unlimited and the Tompkins County Cooperative Extension 4-H Program  will offer the 19th annual Introduction to Fly Tying course for youth and adults from January 7 - March 3, 2012.   The course features (9) two-hour sessions with several different instructors who will teach the basics of tying the dry fly, wet fly, nymph and streamer patterns that are the most effective in our area. Classes will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturdays January 7, 14, 21 & 28; February 4, 11, 18 & 25; and March 3. All classes are held at the Tompkins County Cooperative Extension Education Center, 615 Willow Avenue Ithaca, NY.

Tuition includes nine weeks of instruction, all tools, hooks and tying materials. All students receive: complete tying kits (including vises, scissors and related tools); all tying materials necessary to complete the course and practice tying outside of the class (feathers, dubbing, hooks and related materials); and a comprehensive introductory text on Fly Tying. Tuition fees are $150 for adults (19 and up), $120 for children (between the ages of 13 and 18) and $225 for a child and adult combination. There are a limited number of partial scholarships available for children aged of 13 to 18.  Space is limited and classes fill early.  A 50% tuition deposit must accompany your application in order for us to hold your place.
