Open Days Garden Tour - Medicine Tree Farm

This perpetually evolving, eclectic garden takes inspiration from the owner's childhood memories of the dramatically different gardens kept by his grandparents. One is remembered as a rambling rock garden full of color, pools, and surprises while the other was filled with square rose beds, grassy allees, and rows of vegetables. The whimsy of the entry bridge over the first pond and the many rustic arbors draped in grapevines, hops, and clematis, along with the underplantings of naturalizing perennials, ornamentals, and grasses provide a maze of pathways for wandering, imagining, and games of hide and seek. The central 'peacock garden' is surrounded by aviaries containing a vast collection of rare Java Green, opal, silver pied, and bronze peafowl, all of which will be in full breeding plumage by June. This garden will welcome all visitors to return for a torchlight viewing on the evening of June 11 to experience the real magic of the place.
