Master Food Preserver Training

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County periodically offers a Master Food Preserver training, taught by Cornell Cooperative Extension food preservation experts. This program is for those who would like to go beyond the basics of home food preservation with the possibility of becoming a CCE Master Food Preserver volunteer.

Participants will learn the science of food preservation, boiling water bath canning, pressure canning, freezing and drying foods, quick pickling, and making jam/jelly using the safest, most updated information available.  No prior experience in food preservation is required.

Those who attend the full training and choose to take the exam will receive a Certificate of Participation.  Those wishing to become a 'CCETC Master Food Preserver' will need to apply and meet additional requirements.

This is a hands-on training, so space is limited.

Check back for future Master Food Preserver trainings in 2014.
