National Walk to School Day

Students at Northeast Elementary and DeWitt Middle School who live within walking distance of their school can walk or bike to school as part of "National Walk to School Day" on Wednesday, October 5. Parents are invited to join their children on "walking school buses" leaving from each of the following meeting points:

  1. Uptown Road at University Park parking lot
  2. St Catherine's Church
  3. Burleigh and Lexington Rd
  4. Salem and Birchwood

Staff wearing bright yellow safety vests will meet families at these stops rain-or-shine.  The walks will start promptly at 7:30 A.M. for Northeast students and at 8:30 A.M for Dewitt students at each of these locations.  Please meet us at the stop, or join us along the way if the route passes your home.  You can visit the Safe Routes to School website to see maps of the routes online.

If your child plans to walk or bike to school on Wednesday, October 5 for National Walk to School Day, please let us know by visiting this link, so that we can plan to have enough staff to safely escort your children to school.
