International Mud Day at ICG

Celebrate International Mud Day at the  Hands-on-Nature "Anarchy Zone" at the Ithaca Children's Garden.  Fun muddy times are expected with mud slides, mud pools, mud cloth, mud pies, and more.  This event is free and open to all!

Started in 2008 in Nepal and Australia, today International Mud Day is celebrated by thousands of children in dozens of countries worldwide as a chance to celebrate nature and the great outdoors by getting muddy.  This celebration will also be the grand opening of the new Hands-on-Nature "Anarchy Zone" at the Children's Garden - a place where children of all ages are free to explore, play, construct, and create. Inspired by European models of adventure playgrounds with professional playworkers and a variety of loose parts for play and construction, children at the Anarchy Zone will be free to build and create, all in the name of free play and fun in the natural world.  Learn more at:

The Hands-on-Nature Anarchy Zone is free and open to the public everyday, with volunteer playworkers on site throughout the summer Wednesdays from 4:30 to 7:30pm and Saturdays from 1 to 4pm. Stop by and have some fun!
