AMBULANCES

Bangs ambulance service -- (607) 273-1161, or (800) 439-9072 for non-emergency ambulance or wheelchair-user transportation.  NOTE: Bangs may not be covered by insurance.

BUSES

TCAT buses -- (607) 277-7433
Call for information on routes or the TCard payment system. Half price fares for youth, adults over 60, and people with disabilities. Routes to Cayuga Medical, Guthrie Clinic and Convenient Care.

Gadabout -- (607) 273-1878
Rides by reservation for people 60 or over, or people with disabilities. Reserve a ride two business days in advance. $1.50 per one-way trip within the City of Ithaca; $2.00 for trips that start or end outside city limits.

ADA paratransit service -- (607) 277-9388 x420
Persons with disabilities may be eligible for ADA paratransit services provided by Gadabout that covers, and in some cases goes beyond, areas served by TCAT. Ask for a ADA New Freedom ride if your request is outside TCAT's footprint and times.

Greyhound -- (607) 272-7930
Regional bus with service from Ithaca bus station to Rochester Greyhound Bus Station/Amtrak Station at cost of $45.00 for a round trip. To make a reservation on a Greyhound bus for wheelchair accessibility, contact 1-800-752-4841 48 hours in advamce of your trip.

Trailways buses -- (607) 776-7548
Regional bus with service from Ithaca bus station to Syracuse Bus Station at cost of $28.50 for a round trip. Discounts are available for adults over 65 and children under 11. Wheelchair accessibility available upon request (48 hour advance notice).

Coach USA/Shortline buses -- (607) 277-8800
Regional bus with service from Ithaca bus station to Albany, Elmira and Binghamton.  Call for discounted senior-citizen pricing (based on destination). Wheelchair accessibility available upon request (48 hour advance notice).

CTRAN (Chemung Transit) -- (607) 734-5211
Chemung Transit will pick up on their direct route from Ithaca to Elmira (route 30X); Call for pick-up information.

 
Ride Tioga (Tioga County Transit System) -- (607) 699-7433
Provides rides from Ithaca to Waverly, Owego to Ithaca, and Newark Valley to Ithaca. One transfer ride from Ithaca to Guthrie Sayre. Half-fare for seniors and ADA eligible riders.  Call for pick-up information.

 

Schulyer County Transit -- (607) 535-3555

Their Dial-a-Ride service runs from Schuyler County to Cayuga Medical Center from 1-3pm every Tuesday.

 

Cortland County Transit -- (706) 758-3383

Route 7 provides bus services from Cortland to TC3 in Dryden.

 

VETERAN INFORMATION

Disabled American Veterans Volunteer Transportation Network (Freeville VA clinic) -- (607) 591-7388  
If a Veteran is receiving VA medical care at the Tompkins/Cortland County VA Clinic at Freeville, call to request a ride to the VA clinic.  Must have 48 hour advance notice.

Disabled American Veterans Volunteer Transportation Network (Syracuse clinic) -- (800) 221-2883 x54352  
Call to request a ride to the VA clinic.  Must have 48 hour advance notice.

Angel Flights for Veterans Services -- (800) 296-1217  
For financially needy veterans/active duty military person or their family member(s) to access distant specialized medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, or rehabilitation.

VOLUNTEER RIDE SERVICES

Zimride Tompkins -- (607) 272-2292                                       
A free rideshare matching website where users can post a ride, find a ride and share a ride with others going the same way.  Zimride is especially useful for running errands or going to and from doctor's appointments. 

FISH - Friends in Service Helping -- call 211 or (877) 211-8667
FISH volunteers provide rides to Tompkins County residents in need of medical and health related services that are within Tompkins County.

American Cancer Society Road to Recovery -- (800) 227-2345
may have a volunteer to take cancer patients for active cancer treatment appointments, including into/out of Tompkins County.  Rides should be requested 5 business days in advance.

2-1-1 Information and referral for basic information on all transportation options.  Dial 2-1-1

Catholic Charities offers bus passes and gas vouchers for medical and work transportation to those who qualify.

Angel Flights Corporate Angel Network -- (866) 328-1313
May help to get a free flight on a corporate airplane for cancer, bone marrow donors & recipients, treatment or a second opinion. Often flies from the Elmira/Corning Airport to the New York City area.

Angel Flight Northeast -- (800) 549-9980
Free air transportation in private aircraft by volunteer pilots so children and adults may access lifesaving medical care.  Not restricted to cancer diagnosis.

Through the door transportation to medical appointments and someone to with you during your visit to take notes.
