School Buses
School Bus Safety
According to the Department of Motor Vehicles, a critical issue regarding school buses and student safety is the impatience of other drivers on the road. Drivers must always obey school bus stoplights, and otherwise be mindful of their presence on the road. Drivers that ignore or break these rules can be identified and may be subject to substantial fines.
In additional to stopping at all traffic signage, school buses must also stop at all RR crossings, regardless of signage in this scenario.
Peak school bus activity occurs weekdays between 7:00-9:30 AM and 2:00-4:30 PM. During the school year, buses are on the road as early as 6:00 AM until rush-hour in the early evenings, not including field trips and other special events.
