Market Demand

Look below for a list of things you can do to help generate resident demand for energy retrofits! You will also find strategies to overcome common barriers listed below. Educational materials and resources to help you in promoting awareness of home energy retrofits are located in the column on the right.

What Can You Do?

  • Hire a contractor to retrofit your home. After the retrofit, speak in an Energy Corps video about the benefits of energy efficiency retrofits to you and your community.
  • Distribute our educational materials (Deck of Cards, Path to Energy Efficiency, Energy CD and List of Local Contractors) to organizations and people that are nodes in your community's informational network.
  • Coordinate a public blower-door test (hosted by the Energy Corps) to be held in a community building, church or home of a local leader.
  • Lead a targeted energy efficiency marketed campaign in a local neighborhood, with assistance from the Energy Corps.
  • Organize a group to participate in an Energy Corps presentation, workshop or energy test.
  • Help Energy Corps distribute free utility bill reports for homes in your community. Residents can see how their home energy use compares to other homes.
  • Identify people in your community who have an interest in home energy-efficiency and encourage them to be in a Cooperative Extension video.
  • Come up with your own idea, and share it with us at tecc.energy@gmail.com
