The Energy Corps consists of student-interns in Tompkins County who work to further Cooperative Extension's goals in promoting renewable sources of energy, reducing emissions and creating energy-efficient homes for all.

Tompkins Energy Corps - Application for Summer Internship

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County is seeking student applicants for the Tompkins Energy Corps. The Energy Corps is an exciting campaign to build awareness and stimulate market demand for energy efficiency that’s making real change in Tompkins County.

DETAILS:

***Paid internships start at $10 to $15 /hour.***

Applications will be reviewed and interviews scheduled on a rolling basis until all available positions are filled.

Energy Corps interns will work up to full time from late May through early August. Some weekend availability is required. Interns will be based at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County, 615 Willow Ave, Ithaca.

    The Tompkins Energy Conservation Corps is part of a larger energy savings campaign to help Tompkins County reach its goal of reducing carbon emissions 20% by 2020 and 80% by 2050. A main component of our outreach is publicizing and explaining the behaviors, technologies and programs that increase energy efficiency to the residents of Tompkins County.

    This summer Energy Corps interns will work as research assistants on a project designed to increase participation in energy efficient living and DIY energy-saving home and apartment improvements. This work will require a large amount of community outreach including door-to-door visits and leading workshops. Please give an example of when you’ve engaged in public speaking, community outreach or education.
