Training/Certification

Here are some specialized training programs that can prepare you to become a BPI certified professional, HERS Rater, or specialized OSHA trainer.

  • Building Performance Institute - BPI certified professionals are specialists in their chosen field(s). By attaining your certification, you demonstrate your knowledge and skills are among the best in the country – capable of diagnosing critical performance factors in a home that impact comfort, health, safety, durability and energy efficiency.
Building Analyst - Go beyond a traditional energy audit to perform comprehensive, whole-home assessments, identify problems at the root cause and prescribe and prioritize solutions based on building science.
Building Envelope - Quantify performance and prescribe improvements to help tighten the building envelope (shell), stop uncontrolled air leakage and optimize comfort, durability and HV/AC performance.
Heat Professional – Optimize the performance of heating equipment to help save energy and ensure occupant comfort, health and safety.
  • Home Energy Rating System - A home energy rating involves an analysis of a home’s construction plans and onsite inspections. Based on the home’s plans, the Home Energy Rater uses an energy efficiency software package to perform an energy analysis of the home’s design.
HERS Rater - A Certified Home Energy Rater or Rater is a person trained and certified by an accredited HomeEnergy Rating Provider to inspect and evaluate a home’s energy features, prepare a home energy rating and make recommendations for improvements that will save the homeowner energy and money.
  • Occupational Safety & Health Administration - With the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, Congress created the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to ensure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women by setting and enforcing standards and by providing training, outreach, education and assistance.
