2009 Green Buildings Open House & Tour

Photo: Several of the 27 sites on the 2008 tour

Saturday and Sunday
October 3-4, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

New this year: speakers on 10/2 & 10/3 evenings!

Don't miss this unique opportunity to see first hand renewable energy and green building practices at work in our area. Green building involves designing, constructing or renovating homes, schools, workplaces and other structures for high performance, human health and environmental sustainability. This year's Green Building Open House will feature 32 homes and businesses in Tompkins, Tioga and Schuyler Counties. Homeowners and/or green building professionals will be on site to answer questions and describe their green building features - such as energy efficient appliances, passive solar design, photovoltaics, wind power, salvaged and non-toxic building materials, local lumber, strawbale construction and more.

For a second year, our tour will take place over two days, with half of the homes open on Saturday (#2-17), and half on Sunday (#18-32). Please visit sites only on the days that the owners have agreed to be open! Visitors may view participating sites between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
