On SUNDAYS from 10:00AM to 2:00PM ONLY, our parking lot is a staffed "drop spot" for the Tompkins County Solid Waste Food Scraps Recycling Program. During this time ONLY, bring your collected food scraps and give them to the Tompkins County Solid Waste attendant in our parking lot for recycling.
At all other times, when no Tompkins County Solid Waste attendant is here to take your food scraps, choose an alternate drop spot from the list at left and take your food scraps there. Please DO NOT leave them here at Cooperative Extension if no Tompkins County Solid Waste attendant is present. Thank you!
STARTING APRIL 1, 2016 only food items and paper napkins and paper towels will be accepted, along with compostable bin liners. That means compostable plastics and other food soiled paper – such as all cups and plates – will no longer be collected as part of the food scraps recycling program.
For instructions on what food items are acceptable and how to prepare them, visit the FOOD SCRAPS RECYCLING page on the Tompkins County Solid Waste website.
Food Scrap Recycling is a program of the Tompkins County Solid Waste Division.
