Urban Food Gardening

  • Monday, February 6, 2017, 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Join the movement to raise food anywhere in Ithaca (even in raised beds over cement!).  Starting with existing gardening initiatives, we plan to grow more food for food pantries and for anyone who feels hungry. ANYONE interested in city gardening (from novice - to expert) can be involved.

The evening will include presentations about current urban gardening initiatives in Ithaca, and an opportunity for participants to get together to brainstorm new projects.

Free Meal, Open to All.  Please register HERE so we know how much to cook!

Presentations will cover:

  • community gardens
  • school gardens
  • shared backyard gardens
  • curbside gardens
  • raising chickens
  • permaculture parks
  • urban gardening food policy

Breakout sessions following the presentations will give participants an opportunity to connect with others to get involved in existing urban food gardening projects and initiate new projects in the city and town of Ithaca.

Co-sponsored by Greenstar Community Food Projects, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County and the Tompkins County Public Library.
