Learn the options for rural land use!

Farming 101 – Chemung County

  • Saturday, March 11, 2017, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Rural landowners considering how to use their land or others thinking about farming are invited to sign up for the Farming 101 workshop being offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Groundswell Center for Local Food and Farming. The workshop will provide an overview of what is involved in getting started including business logistics, land and soil assessment, and marketing. During the afternoon program participants will have the option to attend a session on raising livestock or on horticultural crops.

This workshop provides a good foundation for moving forward with land use options and farm business opportunities. Cost $15 per person, $25 per couple (same address), payable at the door. Fee covers the cost of handouts and lunch.

The SAME workshop is being offered in two southern tier locations:

  • March 11, 9-3, Chemung County Fairground, 4-H building, 170 Fairview Road, Horseheads, NY REGISTER HERE
  • March 18, 9-3, at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tioga County, 56 Main Street, Owego, NY REGISTER HERE
