NYSEG's Energy Smart Community (ESC) program is a pilot project with the goal of increasing energy efficiency on our electrical grid and in our community. This is an opportunity to learn more about the inefficiencies of "rush hour" on the grid, smart meters, the Smart Usage Plan, Energy Manager, and other energy saving tools and strategies. Join us every 4th Wednesday of the month from 6-7:30 at Cooperative Extension. RSVP required. Childcare provided upon request
More about the Energy Smart Community
In 2016, New York State’s ‘Reforming Energy Vision’ established ambitious goals for our state’s electrical system to produce less greenhouse gasses, become more energy efficient, and use 50% renewable energy by 2030. The Energy Smart Community is a NYSEG pilot project to test technologies that may help get us there. 12,000 homes and businesses in Tompkins County were the first to receive smart meters and access to innovative tools to increase energy efficiency for customers and the electrical grid. Every 4th Wednesday of the month join us for a discussion to learn more about the inefficiencies of "rush hour" on the grid, what smart meters do, the risks and benefits of a new time-based pricing option called the Smart Usage Plan, navigating NYSEG’s online tool- Energy Manager, and other energy saving tools and strategies. We can also help you understand your electric bill, offer one-on-one support to log-in to Energy Manager to view your hourly energy usage, and share helpful energy efficiency tips and tricks to save you money and reduce your carbon footprint. RSVP required and childcare provided upon request.
