Tree ID Walk and Pruning Demo - Citizen Pruner Program Training #4

This final class for the pruning series allows participants to familiarize themselves with common trees in Ithaca and see spring pruning in action! Join CCE and the Citizen Pruner Program for a delightful walk outside to view various species of trees and shrubs.  These classes are free to Citizen Pruner Volunteers

Each spring, we offer a training series for individuals who wish to become Citizen Pruner Volunteers and for members of the general public. Take one or all of the following workshops:

  • April 15 – Tree selection and planting care;  There is a $7-15 sliding scale fee to attend individual classes.
  • April 22 – Training and pruning trees;  There is a $7-15 sliding scale fee to attend individual classes.
  • April 29 – Pruning shrubs. There is a $7-15 sliding scale fee to attend individual classes.  
  • May 6 - Tree Identification Walk & Pruning Demo Monday, May 6, 5:30pm. Take a walk around our Fall Creek neighborhood to identify and prune local street trees. There is a $5.00 fee for this class.

About the Citizen Pruner Volunteer Program:

Citizen Pruner Volunteers get LOTS of hands-on pruning practice helping to maintain street trees and shrubs in the City of Ithaca. After 4 training sessions at Cooperative Extension, volunteers work once a week from May to October and are free to come weekly or as time permits. Staff from Extension and the City are always on hand during work sessions to help guide volunteers in making pruning decisions.
