This final class for the pruning series allows participants to familiarize themselves with common trees in Ithaca and see spring pruning in action! Join CCE and the Citizen Pruner Program for a delightful walk outside to view various species of trees and shrubs.

*Note earlier start time than previous classes*

  • "Tree Pruning" Monday, April 16, 7:00-8:30pm. Jeanne Grace, City Forester, and Keith Vanderhye of Limbwalker Tree Care, will share their expertise in this session.
  • "Shrub Pruning" Monday, April 23, 7:00-8:30pm with Monika Roth, CCE-Tompkins Ag Educator, will lead this class.

About the Citizen Pruner Volunteer Program:

Citizen Pruner Volunteers get LOTS of hands-on pruning practice helping to maintain street trees and shrubs in the City of Ithaca. After 4 training sessions at Cooperative Extension, volunteers work once a week from May to October and are free to come weekly or as time permits. Staff from Extension and the City are always on hand during work sessions to help guide volunteers in making pruning decisions. To volunteer or sign up for the classes, call (607) 272-2292 ext. 126 or email Monika Roth at mr55@cornell.edu.
