This class was designed to support members of the community who are purchasing local, seasonal produce. 

Shopping at the farmers market and through a CSA supports local farmers, healthy soils, and healthy communities. But it can be quite an adventure learning to cook new items, like kohlrabi, celeriac, fennel, squashes and many types of radishes and turnips. This class provides a time for community members to cook and eat together while developing flexible recipes that empower us to cook with what the earth provides, rather than shipping in familiar produce year round.  

In addition, this class hopes that attendees will gain skills for weekly meal planning, food budgeting, reducing food waste and preserving the harvest through freezing batch meals. 

All classes provide a meal during class and one to take home. Please bring your own containers!

This class is available free for SNAP or WIC eligible households.  Others are encouraged to sign up for the FREE CCE-Tompkins Community Toolbox newsletter to learn about additional class options that may be avaailable.
