Join Josh Dolan from CCE-Tompkins -- and special guests - in his home kitchen on Thursday night for a live cooking experience for individuals and families. Learn how to stretch your food dollars with meals that can be prepared in an hour or less and can feed a family, or individual for a week.
Just watch or cook along with Josh and Terry. When you register you'll receive a link to the zoom session AND a grocery list for the class (also lsited by class, below) along with recipes and helpful tips that will help you be more frugal during a time of economic uncertainty.
5/28: Fresh pasta with Traditional Pomodoro Sauce. Terry will show the class how to mix their own fresh pasta dough, then proceed to explain and demonstrate how to form a variety of shapes with their dough. 6/4: Repurposing Pizza Dough. Terry Bloom from Stone Bend Farm shares their specialty pizza dough and walks us through several different recipes that use the same dough as the base including pita bread and baguettes, calzones, and garlic knots. Josh Dolan is Kitchen Manager and Food Gardening Outreach Educator at CCE-Tompkins. A former cook at Ithaca’s noted ABC Café, Dolan recently offered two very popular series of "Kids in the Kitchen" in-person cooking classes for youth at CCE-Tompkins. He previously offered “Seed to Table” gardening and cooking classes for youth in 2014, and in 2011 coordinated an “Iron Chef” competition for youth in Northside Ithaca as part of the Gardens for Humanity Project, both through CCE-Tompkins Nutrition Program.
Terry Bloom is chef of Stone Bend Farm in Newfield, an on-farm bed and breakfast serving meals prepared with ingredients sourced in the most responsible way possible from their farm, or artisan farms within 30 miles. They offer catering for weddings, farm dinners, farm to table cooking experiences, but you may know Terry & Shaunessy Bloom from Stone Bend’s pop-up pizza at Press Bay Alley. Terry currently is serving up contactless #stonebendpizza at Bar Argos in Downtown Ithaca for pickup on Friday and Saturday nights. Terry will guest host with Josh for 4 weeks, teaching you to make a number of great dishes including Stone Bend's famous pizza in an upcoming class.
