Business Planting

Each year in May, the Tompkins County Beautification Program holds a special planting day called the Business Planting Day.  It's a very simple program: local businesses provide a planter and potting soil to be placed outside  near the business entrance.  Beautification volunteers plant the container with summer foliage and flowering plants.  The business is responsible for watering the containers all summer.

The program is centered on and around the Commons downtown, with participants on E. and W. State St., Cayuga St. and Green St.  Businesses in other areas are welcome to participate as well.

The 2019 Business Planting Day will take place on a Saturday in early May as soon as the weather allows planting (tentatively May 4). Volunteers and businesses are welcome to sign up using the contact info below.
