Consumer Helpline
The Consumer HelpLine is a community education effort offered through the Consumer Education Program of CCE-Tompkins. Its purpose is to assist consumers in making wise consumer decisions and increasing awareness of their rights and responsibilities in the marketplace by offering unbiased educational information and/or resources as requested.
Trained volunteers are available to help consumers explore their options regarding various consumer issues. The HelpLine is generally staffed Monday-Friday from 10:00am-2:00pm, or you may call and leave a message that briefly describes your consumer issue, and a volunteer will call you back. Topics that volunteers can help you with are listed below.
- Tenant-Landlord Issues
- Lead Paint Safety
- Indoor Air Quality (including Lead, Mold, Radon, etc.)
- Stain Removal and Green Cleaning
- Home Repairs and Maintenance
- Energy Conservation
- Water Quality and Testing
