DESCRIPTION:Retired CCE Tompkins Ag Educator, Monika Roth, will guide you on best practices for pruning shrubs, from maintenance to rejuvenation. Shrubs are long lasting parts of our gardens - offering flowers, screening, and habitat. With good care, shrubs can be beautiful, healthy, and productive for decades. Each spring, CCE-Tompkins offers a multi-part training series for individuals who want to learn best practices for selecting, planting, caring for, and pruning ornamental trees and shrubs. The classes are part of a 3-part hybrid series, with a final hands-on workshop - take one or all. There will be a separate registration link for each class.This class series gives the basics to start as a Citizen Pruner Volunteer. Citizen Pruners are stewards of trees in the City of Ithaca and the Town of Ulysses. She was integral to starting the Citizen Pruner volunteer program and has been involved in organizing classes and working with volunteers since its inception in 1990. She teaches the shrub pruning class because she loves to prune, and it is gratifying to see the results of pruning.This class is being offered both In-person or Via Zoom.
