Gardener's Pot Swap Recycling Event

  • Friday, September 27, 2019, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM
  • Saturday, September 28, 2019, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

This is a great opportunity to keep pots out of the landfill or recycling stream by giving them another year of use with your fellow gardeners.

During our recycling event, bring your plastic nursery pots and trays IN GOOD CONDITION to this Master Gardener Volunteer-staffed event at the CCE-Tompkins main parking lot on Willow Avenue. If you need pots, you may take away as many as you can use! This is a FREE opportunity for gardeners to share their plastic plant containers instead of throwing them away.

NOTE: ONLY POTS IN GOOD CONDITION WILL BE ACCEPTED AND ONLY DURING OUR STAFFED POT SWAP TIME! NO broken or torn plastic, and NO HANGING POTS. All pots dropped at CCE-Tompkins must be clean and stacked by size. We can ONLY accept clean and usable pots in the following sizes:
     4"
     6"
     Gallon or larger black pots
Cell packs with no more than 4 cells
     Plant trays
Do not drop off pots anytime other than 4-7pm on Friday 9/27 and 9am-1pm on Saturday 9/28.
If you have pots that don't fit the above criteria, please be advised that you now can recycle your #1,2, and 5 plastic nursery pots and trays at the Tompkins County Solid Waste Depot.
