Children Learn Key Money Concepts Through Group Storytime

We all want our kids to have a good foundation in financial literacy. But, it can be hard finding the time, tools and resources to start them out with the building blocks for financial and well being. Fortunately, many of the skills that are foundational to understanding managing money, like patience, planning and problem solving don’t require a lot of financial know how. The Money as You Grow Book Club financial education program that uses children’s books to help families learn key money concepts through reading, play, and quiet one-on-one talks.

Join us Thursday August 8th at 3:00pm as CCE-Tompkins partners with the Tompkins County Public Library in bringing local comedian and storyteller, Kenneth McLaurin for a fun reading of "My Rows and Piles of Coins" by Tololwa M. Mollel. It's a story about a young boy in Tanzania, a country in Africa, who works hard and saves all his money for months. He wants to buy a bicycle to help his mother carry items to sell at the market. The key principles highlighted within this story are setting goals, and saving.
