Nut Trees for the Northeast

  • Wednesday, November 17, 2021, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Nut trees can provide highly nutritious food for centuries. Local nuts can be used for anything from holiday snacks to staples like flour, oil, and butters. This class will provide information on growing nut trees in our changing climate, the best types of nuts for growing in NY, propagating nut trees/shrubs, and finally harvesting and processing nuts.

Akiva Silver is an experienced nut grower and founded Twisted Tree Farm, a nursery in Spencer, NY specializing in low-maintenance fruit and nut trees, berry bushes, and useful perennials. Akiva is the author of Trees of Power and The Conversation.
