TCFTS is a countywide effort to enable schools in Tompkins County both to serve NY State farm-fresh products into their cafeterias and to raise student awareness of fresh farm foods! Each month cafeterias across the county, will serve one to two “Harvest of the Month” (HOM) dishes that highlight seasonal NY state fruit and vegetables throughout the 2020-2021 school year.

TCFTS aims to provide resources and support, to help SFAs reach the procurement benchmark of 30% NY State food to qualify for a 25-cent per meal reimbursement under the terms of the NYS No Student Hungry legislation. To do so, TCFTS has created a coordinated buying strategy across School Food Authorities (SFAs) and aims to trains food service workers and auxiliary staff in the preparation and serving of local foods and supports the effective use of local produce.
