Incentivizing Regenerative Agriculture

  • Friday, February 26, 2021, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) programs can provide revenue streams to farmers for implementing farm management practices and systems that provide clean water downstream; increase soil water-holding capacity; sequester carbon; facilitate pollination of crops and other plants; and provide other quantifiable and monetizable ecosystem benefits.

A local team led by CCE Tompkins is exploring the potential to create a pilot PES program in our region. Join us to learn about examples of such programs around the country, and to provide your input on what a Finger Lakes-based program might look like. Farmer and other community input will be key to creating a program that works for our community!
