There will be no AgStravaganza! in 2019, but be sure to join is for 2020 on Saturday, April 11th!
Bring the whole family to the Ithaca Commons on Saturday, April 11th (2020) from 10:00am to 4:00pm for AgStravaganza! and learn about local agriculture and its importance to Tompkins County’s economy. This FREE, fun, family-oriented event will include big farm equipment, little farm animals, and educational exhibits. Visitors can talk with a soils expert, spin the ‘Wheel O’ Dairy’, and have Cornell Dairy ice cream samples served by the Tompkins County Dairy Princesses. 4-H members will be on hand to show and talk about their animals including a calf, sheep, bunnies and poultry. You also can learn about other 4-H clubs and how to join one, or how to become an independent 4-H member. Rounding out the farm animal contingent will be critters from Laughing Goat Fiber Farm, Cabin View Alpacas, and Spot Hollow Farm, which will offer sheep shearing exhibitions throughout the day.
More than 20 local farms will set up displays on the Commons including CSA farms for our annual Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Fair, including vegetable, cheese, beer, hard cider and meat producers. Stroll the Commons while you chat with farmers, sample some farm products, and learn how CSA (direct purchasing) can benefit your family. Participating CSA and direct marketing farms include: those mentioned above and Full Plate Farm Collective, Six Circles Farm, Grisamore Farms, Glenwood Farms, Heller's Farm, MacDonald’s Farm, Parulski Farms, Lively Run Dairy, Green Tree Garden Supply, Hillcrest Dairy, Hopshire Farm & Brewery, West Creek Family Farm, Grisamore Cider Works, The Piggery, Shelterbelt Farm, Sno*Farm Creamery, Sweet Land Farm, and TC3 Farm.
CCE-Tompkins’ Master Composter Volunteers and Tompkins County Solid Waste will help us all learn more about reducing our waste stream, with on-site collection for the containers left over from ice cream, and from the tasty delights offered by our local-foods vendor, The Piggery.
