Join hundreds of people in Tompkins County biking on National Bike to Work & School Day - Friday May 17th, 2019. Find out firsthand why commuting by bike is fun, energizing, and an affordable way to get where you need to go. Join us on Facebook and invite friends to bike along!

  • Finger Lakes Cycling Club @ Hancock & Trail (by creek & new apartments)
  • Green Star @ Waterfront Trail

EMPLOYERS
Local employers are encouraged to promote an active commute by sharing this event or offering incentives to encourage biking all month. You too can bike to work or school and invite others to join the fun!  

Cornell University and Tetra Tech are offering staff activities and rewards in celebration of Bike Month. 

A COMMUNITY EVENT
Bike with family, friends and colleagues! People of all ages are welcome. Bike To Work Day Celebration of National Bike Month are part of the community wide effort to improve conditions and awareness of bicycling as a viable means of transportation. The local effort is coordinated by Way2Go a program of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County with the help of various local organizations.

WIN PRIZES
Participate and visit a stop near you for a chance to win a $25 Downtown Ithaca Alliance Gift Card and other small prizes.

SAFETY TIPS:

  • If you are unfamiliar to biking, consider a short route or practicing ahead of time to increase your confidence and familiarity with your route.
  • Consider less travelled roads, trails, bike boulevards ,or bike lanes. 
  • Always follow road rules and use hand signals.

See & Bee Seen

  • Use bike lights, wear reflective gear and helmet to prevent injury and increase visibiity.
  • Share the road.  The road is for moving people not just cars.
  • Let's watch out for eachother on and near the road!
