Enhancing Volunteer Driver Programs

A Discussion of Possibilities

Volunteer driver programs provide essential rides for many people facing critical transportation barriers. Over the past few months, Way2Go has organized three meetings and a working group to explore possibilities for enhancing the way we enroll, dispatch, coordinate and support volunteer drivers and riders.

Join the Faster & Farther Network* meeting on June 26^th to hear a recap of what’s been learned so far, and share your experiences and ideas for next steps, which could include a pilot of better coordination.

Open to the public. Refreshments provided. Please send RSVPs (appreciated, but not required) and any questions, suggestions, or particular needs to Sophie Somerfeldt at css17@cornell.edu or 272-2292, ext. 184.

Meeting goals and agenda:

• The working group shares a synthesis of we’ve heard and learned to date, and proposes an idea or more for going forward.
• These ideas are evaluated, changed and/or shaped by the meeting participants including drivers, riders, coordinators and others.
• Agreement is reached by the end of the meeting on immediate next action steps (whatever makes sense at that point) and who will take on what role.
