Our popular Kids in the Kitchen Cooking Class for youth aged 8 and up will run for a full week during February Break, 2/17 to 2/21, 9am to 4pm daily in the fully equipped Cargill Teaching Kitchen at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County.
Learning to cook is a great way for teens and 'tweens to boost self -confidence and self reliance, be more helpful to busy parents and have more fun at home. With the support of experienced cooks and trained nutrition educators, participants will work in small groups for a "total-immersion" cooking experience. They'll learn about how to cook, knife skills, kitchen safety skills, being adaptable in the kitchen, how to follow and adapt recipes, cooking for a crowd, and survey of global cuisine. We'll also cover the most common food allergens and how to avoid them, as well as common dietary restrictions - both religious and ethical. Each class includes a shared meal with new friends who share their interest!
Dietary restrictions are taken into consideration, please contact Josh Dolan (below) with any questions or concerns about the class.
Sign up on the "Learn More" link below. Class is limited to 16 participants so don't wait to sign up!
Full Week: $260-$360 sliding scale; proportional charges above for 2 or 3 days
