Tompkins County residents are invited to share their thoughts on our local food system and their priorities for improving it in a brief online survey hosted by Tompkins Food Future, a community-based planning initiative. The survey takes 10 minutes or less to complete, and can be found at: https://www.tompkinsfoodfuture.org/participate. The survey has been extended and will remain open through 3/15/21.
Organizers hope to gather input from stakeholders across Tompkins County including individual consumers and households, those experiencing food insecurity and those working to alleviate it, producers, processors, retailers, people working to reduce food waste, and others. Survey responses will provide an overview of the challenges, strengths and needs of our community, and will be used to develop a comprehensive food system plan and recommendations, to be distributed in May 2022.
Tompkins Food Future is a two-year planning project, funded by the Tompkins County Legislature and the Community Foundation of Tompkins County, and housed at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County (CCE-Tompkins).Community partners include: Tompkins County Food Policy Council, Tompkins COVID Food Task Force, Tompkins County Recycling & Materials Management, The Learning Farm, Childhood Nutrition Collaborative, Tompkins County Area Development, Cayuga Health Partners, Tompkins County Health Department, Ithaca Green New Deal, Friendship Donations Network, Full Plate Farm Collective, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County, and Cornell University.
