The Compost Education Program supports the goals of the Solid Waste Management Division to divert compostable materials from the waste stream and thereby maximize waste reducation in Tompkins County. This mission is achieved by training and supporting community volunteers to educate and enthuse the public about the benefits and methods of composting.

Master Composter Program
2009 training dates:Wednesday evenings, 6:30 - 8:30 pm from Feb. 11 - April 29 (no class Mar. 18). Application Deadline: Friday, Jan. 30..
