Mary Squyres' garden is a garden for gardeners--filled with interesting and unusual plant specimens; many of which are native plants. It features several shrub and perennial beds, some centered on a stone patio by the house, others forming borders between the lawn and woods. One garden features azaleas, mountain laurels and exotic arisaemas; another includes native Canada lilies, starry false Solomon's seal, and primroses.
Meandering paths take you through the remainder of the property, where the natural woods are inter-planted with many native trees and shrubs. Look for cucumber magnolia, yellow birch, black gum and swamp magnolia among others.
NOTE: This garden was featured on an Open Days Garden Tour and is not open to the public at other times.
