These programs are sponsored by Danby Community Council and are Free to Danby Residents, however registration is required. Summer programs run 9am-3pm, unless otherwise noted. Donations are accepted for all programs! Please make checks out to Cornell Cooperative Extension - Danby Youth. Please send child with lunch and water bottle each day. Spaces are limited and fill up quickly, register early!

Crafts at the Pond (Ages 8-12) Thurs-Friday, June 28-29, 9am-3pm, Jennings Pond. Come work on crafts and play by the pond and on the trails around Jennings Pond  We will explore the area, find natural materials for our craft projects.

Danby Days,(Ages 9 and up)  Tues-Thurs, July 3-5, 9am-3pm, Location varies each day: Danby Town Park, Youth Farm on Nelson Rd, and Saturday July 14 (Danby Fun Day, at the Fire Station).

During the week of July 3-5, we will prepare for the Danby Fun Day, by making new games, and perfecting our balloon animals and face painting., do some trail work at the Danby Town Park, and help out at the Youth Farm on Nelson Road. Each day, we will also eat fun snacks, play games, and explore.

Exploring Here and There, a joint program with Town of Ithaca youth (Ages 10 and up) Tues-Thurs, July 17-19, 9am-3pm, Danby Town Park, transportation provided to field trip. We will go on the Floating Classroom, a research boat on Cayuga Lake on Tuesday, then the rest of the week, explore the Forests of Danby Town Park, working together to build shelters, make crafts, cook with solar ovens, work with GPS devises/Geocaching and play games.

Danby Girls (ages 10 and up) Tues - Thurs, Aug 28-30, 9am-3pm, Location varies each day: Finger Lakes trail head, Danby Town Hall.  Come spend time with other Danby girls, have a spa and yoga day,  hike on a Finger Lakes Trail to a Lean To, and of course teach each other fun games and cook foods to share!

These programs are sponsored by Danby Community Council and are Free to Danby Residents, however registration is required.

Lunch Bunch Wednesdays at Boynton Middle School (grades 6-8) March 7 - June 20. An in-school program, during lunch time.  Take a break from the cafeteria! Eat exciting snacks, play games and get to know people you usually don't sit near in the noisy lunch room.

Primitive Pursuits (grades 3-8)  March 7 - June 13 (No program April 11, May 16) Wednesdays 2:30-5:30pm, at June Pollack's (43 Hornbrook Rd) Learn ancestral living skills such as shelter building, native crafts and nature awareness. Explore the outdoors, go hiking and get moving! Please dress for the "weather of the day" and wear clothes that can get dirty!  Bus is available from South Hill Elementary School

South Hill Lunch Bunch Fridays (grades 4-5) March 9 - June 15. In school program at South Hill during lunch. Come have lunch with other youth from Danby in your grade, play games, do crafts and go outside on nice days.

Fridays at the Farm! April 20 - June 15 (no program May 25) Ages 8 and up, 2:30-5:30pm. Three Swallows Farm, Nelson Road.  Buses available from South Hill Elementary, Boynton and High school. Come join us at the farm, where we will have the fields, and the barn at our disposal for games, stories, and farm work, including preparing fields and green houses for summer crops. These foods will be used by area schools for lunches!  We will also take time to explore the woods and fields around the farm where we can use natural materials to create crafts and collaborative "earth art" sculptures, make a cozy campfire, and cook over it!
