Breastfeeding Support

Breastfeeding is the most natural way to feed our babies, but it isn't always easy to get started. Most moms need some help at first.

Are you a new or expectant mom who wants to nurse her baby? If so, you may qualify for free Breastfeeding Support. FREE for women who are eligible for WIC, Medicaid, Food Stamps or similar programs; $30 for the 6-class series for everyone else! Join any time - classes are ongoing and topics are repeated in the next set of workshops!

Classes

Our "Breastfeeding for the Health of It"class meets for 2 hours on 6 mornings from 10:00am-12:00pm or 6 evenings from 5:00-7:00pm here at Cooperative Extension. In this class, you will meet other moms and our staff, and will learn about these topics:

  • Mother's Health (you will receive a FREE nutrient assessment at the first meeting!)
  • The Importance of Breastfeeding for Mothers and Babies
  • Changes that happen when you are pregnant that get you ready to breastfeed your baby
  • How to position your baby to get proper latch and prevent sore nipples
  • How to pump and store breastmilk -- learn how long breastmilk can be kept at room temperature, in the refrigerator and in the freezer
  • How to breastfeed in public, and the laws that protect breastfeeding mothers

See when each of these classes is offered, on our CALENDAR.

When you attend these sessions, you will go home with items such as: baby wipes with convenient portable case, disposable breast pads, medicine dropper, baby's 1st year calendar, fever thermometer and various other items of interest to parents with a new baby.
