Everyone can use a little help!

Breastfeeding Support

Breastfeeding is the most natural way to feed our babies, but it isn't always easy to get started. Most moms need some help at first. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County no longer offers its popular "Breastfeeding for the Health of It!" series but we are able to direct new or expectant moms to the following resources:

Group forming soon!

At Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County we are hosting a series of 8 free workshops for you! At each workshop you’ll prepare a healthy meal and learn more about:

  • Healthy nutrition for mom during and after pregnancy.
  • The importance of breastfeeding for both mom and baby.
  • Changes in mom’s breasts to prepare for breastfeeding.
  • Positioning for breastfeeding.
  • Understanding baby’s hunger signals to make breastfeeding less stressful and more successful.
  • Ways to evaluate whether or not baby is getting enough to eat.
  • Overcoming barriers to breastfeeding.

At the end of every workshop you’ll take home easy, healthy and affordable freezer-friendly recipes and freezer ready food for after your birth.

Call Tina Snyder or Heather Ward at CCE Tompkins at 272-2292 for more information or to let us know your availability.
