Learn the basics of natural dyeing using native foraged plants with a presentation and hands on-demo. From background, prep work, to dye creation and utilization, we will cover all the steps. Participants invited to bring one small garment or two skeins of natural fiber yarn to participate in the hands-on dye process with staghorn sumac and black walnut!
Instructor's bio: Carlin Shew is a local naturalist and Program Specialist for New York State parks (NYOPRHP) working in environmental stewardship and education in the Finger Lakes Region. Originally from Buffalo, NY, Carlin studied at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry before moving to Ithaca, NY in 2017.
Space is limited to 20 participants.
