Natural Dyeing Workshop

  • Thursday, November 13, 2025, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Learn the craft of natural dyeing with native foraged plants including a presentation and hands on-demo. From background, prep work, to dye creation and utilization, we will cover all the basics. Participants are invited to bring one small garment or 2 skeins of yarn (natural linen or wool) for the hands-on dye process which will include native plants such as black walnut, staghorn sumac, and more!

Instructor's bio: Carlin Shew is a local naturalist and Program Specialist for NYOPRHP working in environmental stewardship and education in the Finger Lakes Region. Originally from Buffalo, NY, Carlin studied at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry before moving to Ithaca, NY in 2017.

Space is limited to 12 participants, registration is required.

This program is vauled at $35, however, please pay what you are able. Paying more than $35 will help others attend the class. If you cannot afford the $15 materials cost, please contact us, scholoarships are available.
