Outdoor Mushroom Production Presentation

Specialty mushroom production is a growing industry in NY state, and can be scaled for individuals, restaurants, and farmers. This lecture will cover the basics of bolt, totem, and woodchip cultivation of a few of high-value mushroom species including shiitake and lion's mane. Participants will learn how to plan for their own small operation in the spring.

Instructor's bio:Connor Youngerman studied Biology at the University of Prince Edward Island for his bachelor's degree and then went to Cornell where he received his Master's in Soil and Crop Science. Currently, he works at the Cornell Small Farms Program as their Agroforestry and Mushroom Specialist. His particular interests lie in advancing research and education for agroforestry tree nursery management, medicinal agroforestry crops, and novel mushroom substrates.

This class is being offered both in-person or online by Zoom
