Youth aged 9 to 13 who have an interest in but little experience with animals are invited to register for the annual "4-H Kritter Kamp", hosted by the Tompkins County 4-H program.
This year's event WILL NOT include an overnight stay. On Friday evening, "Kritter Kamp" participants will meet at 4-H Acres Kiwanis Hall to get acquainted with each other and with their species of choice..On Saturday, they return to 4-H Acres to learn about animal behavior, grooming, anatomy, health, nutrition and dietary needs, proper handling and how to present an animal for show. Participants partner with an experienced 4-H member to learn these new skills, and they practice with their choice of animal (sheep, dairy cow, poultry, dog, rabbit) provided by 4-H. "Kritter Kamp" concludes with an animal show and pizza party on Saturday evening.
