Help promote responsible composting in Tompkins County as a Master Composter volunteer!
This free training program includes ten 2-hour classes (20 hours) and two field trips. In between weekly classes, trainees spend an additional ~2 hours/week volunteering and working on class projects. After training, Master Composters give back to the community through a variety of outreach activities.
The 2023 Master Composter volunteer training will be held every Thursday evening, 6:00 to 8:00pm, from February 9 to May 4, 2023. To accommodate school breaks (public & college), class will not be held on February 23, March 16 or April 6. Some training classes will be conducted in person, and others will be held virtually over Zoom. Unless otherwise noted, in person classes will be held at CCETC, 615 Willow Ave in Ithaca.
In addition to the weekly classes, two field trips will be scheduled during the training period.. Specifics about the volunteer work in between classes (called the "practical internship") can be found in the Volunteer Job Description and will be discussed during applicant interviews.
