Kaitlin Aasen will give a presentation about the basics of Saffron production, including purchasing, cultivation, and plant physiology. She will share her personal experience over the last two years and valuable resources with attendees to help them learn and cultivate saffron for themselves or their business. There will be a workshop in the field following this presentation (November 11, 2023) for hands-on experience (link here for that registration: https://conta.cc/3F2MVQB). This class will be offered in person at CCE Tompkins and simultaneously over Zoom.
Presenter Bio: Kaitlin is a local horticulturist and farmer with an associate degree in Horticulture and is working towards her associate in Sustainable Farming and Food Systems at TC3. She has 10 years of experience in the horticulture and agriculture industries and owns the small business Nates Nursery LLC, based in Scipio Center, NY. She also works as a greenhouse grower at Cornell, this is her second year experimenting with saffron cultivation.
