Talking with Tweens and Teens about Pornography and Sex
Join us for an important conversation about how to talk with tweens and teens about pornography and sex. This session will cover:
* When and how young people are first exposed to pornography—and why it matters
* How today’s online content is shaping youth’s understanding of sex, relationships, and self-worth
* What social science research tells us about the changing nature of pornography and its impacts
* Guidance from leading sex educators on how to have open, supportive, age-appropriate conversations
* Tools to help caregivers, educators, and community members create safe, informed, and respectful spaces for growing up
Presented by Selina Gallo-Cruz, PhD. Associate Professor of Sociology at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University and a published scholar on social movements, women’s resistance to violence, and the use of sociological research to address harm and inequity.
*Lunch will be offered to those coming in person.
Preregistration is required. No cost to attend.
