Cities are harsh environments for trees to grow. To ensure green spaces and healthy trees, Andy Hillman and partners evaluated different species and cultivars for their ability to adapt to urban conditions. This program will delve into the stories of some that thrived as street and park trees.
Andy Hillman was professionally involved in urban forestry for nearly four decades. He held positions of leadership at the state, national, and international levels. During his time as Ithaca’s City Forester, the city received three New York Conference of Mayors local government achievement awards and the America in Bloom J. Frank Schmidt & Son Urban Forestry Award. Andy currently chairs the Tree Advisory Council of the Town of Ulysses and is a member of Ulysses’s Conservation and Sustainability Advisory Council.
