CCE's Role in Ithaca 2030
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County has a dual role in the Ithaca 2030 District. We are a Property Owner and a Community Stakeholder, simultaneously participating and supporting the challenge.
As a Property Owner, we participate in the Ithaca 2030 District in the following ways:
- Using ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager to track monthly energy use
- Improving the energy efficiency of our building to reach the 2030 standards
- Sharing insights regarding best practices and lessons learned to help raise the performance of our District
- Accessing financing opportunities, such as NYSERDA and tax incentives, and a 2030 purchasing alliance that provides significant discounts for equipment such as HVAC controls and advanced metering
As a Community Stakeholder, we support the Ithaca 2030 District in the following ways:
- Educating property owners about the 2030 Challenge goals, and how to reach them
- Participating in monthly meetings with other members of the steering committee
- Providing mentorship for small property owners
- Conducting public outreach activities in the City of Ithaca to inform the public, as well as gather feedback regarding the development of the Ithaca 2030 District
- Developing tools to help property owners make their buildings more energy efficient
