This class is being offered both In-person or Via Zoom.

Join retired CCE Tompkins Ag Educator, Monika Roth, who will guide you on best practices for pruning shrubs, from maintenance to rejuvenation. Shrubs are long lasting parts of our gardens - offering flowers, screening, and habitat. With good care, shrubs can be beautiful, healthy, and productive for decades and can sometimes grow too much for our spaces

Each spring, CCE-Tompkins offers a multi-part training series for individuals who want to learn best practices for selecting, planting, caring for, and pruning ornamental trees and shrubs. The classes are part of a 3-part hybrid series, with a final hands-on workshop - take one or all. There will be a separate registration link for each class.

This class series gives the basics to start as a Citizen Pruner Volunteer for the City. Citizen Pruners are stewards of the city's trees. Throughout the warm months, interested folks gather with experienced foresters at weekly volunteer sessions to prune city trees.

Classes are offered 4 Monday evenings in April – April 10, 17 and 24, 7-8:30 PM, and one hands on workshop May 1st, 5:30-7:30pm, in person.

Register for one or all of the following workshops:
